Ethan Quinn of the United States will face veteran Kamil Majchrzak of Poland in the first round of the 2025 Shanghai Masters on Thursday.
The 21-year-old Quinn is a -148 favorite against the +122 underdog Majchrzak, who banners 17-5 record on the hard court this season.
Current Form:
Quinn reached the second round of the 2025 Japan Open after going through the qualifiers before picking up a win over Alex Michelsen 7-5, 6-2 in the first round. Quinn fell to world’s No.11 Holger Rune in the next round, 6-4, 6-2, but it was still an encouraging campaign for the young American, who has compiled a 22-13 record on the hard court this year.
Majchrzak will play his first match since retiring from his third-round match with Leandro Reidi of Switzerland 5-3 at the 2025 US Open. Ranked No.66 in the world, Majchrzak carries 17-5 record on the hard court and 34-18 overall on the ATP Tour this year.

Our Kamil Majchrzak vs Ethan Quinn Prediction
Kamil Majchrzak sustained an intercostal muscle tear at the 2025 US Open, the injury that forced him to retire from his third-round match with Leandro Reidi. It’s unknown how severe the injury was, but I would assume that Majchrzak has already received a clean bill of health to resume his campaign on ATP Tour.
Quinn holds a 13-12 record against the ATP top-100 and 13-7 in first-round matches this year. In his last tournament in Tokyo, Quinn pulled off a stunning win over rising star Alex Michelsen 7-5, 6-2 in the first-round. Although he eventually lost to Rune in the next round, Quinn showed he has what it takes to beat a quality opponent.
When healthy, Majchrzak is a tricky player to play against because of his aggressive and tactical style. However, with the nature and severity of his injury shrouded in mystery, Majchrzak is a risky pick even at +124. Quinn, who has gone 3-1 in his last four matches, is looking like a safe bet at -152 as he has already established some level of momentum ahead of his first-round clash with the Pole.
Our betting prediction for Ethan Quinn vs. Kamil Majchrzak: Ethan Quinn will win.
