Venus Williams is presented with an opportunity to take at least a set and cover +1.5 sets (+135) at DraftKings against the 20-year-old Kaitlin Quevedo of Spain in the first round of the 2026 Madrid Open, her first clay-court tournament in five years.
Momentum: Venus Williams entered the clay-court season looking to end a 10-match losing streak. Williams last tasted in July of last year at the Washington D.C Open, where she swept Peyton Stearns 6-3, 6-4. The shoo-in Hall of Famer lost her last match against Francesca Jones 7-5, 7-5 in the first round of the 2026 Miami Open.
Getting the opportunity to face a legend like Williams is 20-year-old Kaitlin Quevedo, who received a wildcard entry in Madrid at world’s No.140 in the WTA world rankings. Quevedo is 8-4 on the season, albeit most of her victories were earned on the WTA 125/ITF levels.
The Matchup: This is the first and maybe the last meeting between Quevedo and the 45-year-old Williams. Williams owns a 70 percent win rate on clay, but she hasn’t played on this surface since 2021, in which she went 0-4 on the dirt. Quevedo has a 76-40 record on clay or a solid 65 percent win rate on the surface. She is 2-3 on the dirt this year.
Hot on the Board: Quevedo is a massive favorite in this matchup at -521, while Venus Williams is a +379 underdog.

Our Kaitlin Quevedo vs Venus Williams Prediction
Fearless Forecast: Venus Williams lost to Quevedo 6-3, 3-6, 4-6
Edge: Quevedo has no reason to lose to the 45-year-old Williams, who last graced the red dirt five years ago. She’s the younger and more active player of the two, but Williams is bringing a lot of experience to the table. The Madrid Open is by far the biggest tournament Quevedo will compete in her blossoming career, which presents an opportunity and added pressure to impress in her first go-around in a WTA 1000 event.
The Bet: As much as I want Williams to end her 10-match streak and showcase her brilliance on clay one more game, Quevedo is just too young, too good for her to take down. However, I feel the veteran Williams can surprise Quevedo early in the match, taking the first set in the process. Quevedo is no doubt a promising player, especially on clay. However, early jitters in her first big tournament against a legend like Williams can take her out of her game, at least in the first set.
Our betting prediction for Venus Williams vs. Kaitlin Quevedo: Venus Williams +1.5 Sets
