With the Olympics now a thing of the past, for tennis fans at least, we move on to the ATP and WTA events taking place in Canada this week. In Montreal on Tuesday, Jordan Thompson will take on Jack Draper in a match that puts together Australia and Great Britain. There's very little between the pair in the rankings, so it is perhaps a little curious that Draper is such a strong favorite in the early betting? Is there value to be had by betting on the Aussie to come out on top? I think so.

Interestingly, despite being ranked just six places above Thompson, Draper is the hot favorite here. I'm afraid I cannot agree with that. Therefore, betting on the Aussie may just offer us a nice slice of value for money. While Draper plays his first match on US soil since th Olympics, playing on the hard surface for the first time since late March, Thompson has had several matches to warm up, playing on hard courts in both Atlanta and Washington recently. The man currently ranked 33rd in the world has won five of his seven hard-court matches of late, beating some good players such as Mpetshi Perricard and Davidovich Fokina. That sort of form suggests he can get much more competitive against a player whose hard-court game may be a little rusty. Our Prediction: Jordan Thompson to Win.
