There's more ATP 1000 action coming our way from Rome on Friday, when Jan-Lennard Struff and Jiri Lehecka will clash for the third time as professionals. The pair last met on a grass court in Stuttgart, where Lehecka came out on top in straight sets, but when they met on clay, at the French Open, it was a much tighter affair, with Struff more than holding his own, going down in five sets.
On rankings, this is very much Lehecka's match to lose, and the early betting market clearly agrees. However, don't be shocked to see the German get very competitive here. After all, he's a decent clay-courter, one who enjoyed the conditions during the first round, when he won in straight sets. In contrast, Lehecka hasn't had a match to get used to the surface in the Italian capital, and on this basis, it's worth betting that he fails to win in straight sets.

After all, when the pair last met on clay, it was close, with Lehecka edging ahead at the French Open, winning in five sets. The German player has also played a match in Rome already, and this should not be overlooked. Against someone who hasn't yet played at the tournament, Struff, who is a fairly useful clay-court player anyway, can at the very least, avoid a straight set defeat.
