One of the most interesting matches, certainly from a betting viewpoint, at the ATP event in Rotterdam on Friday is the one between Jan-Lennard Struff and Alexander Bublik. These two know plenty about each other having met five times before, and it's the German competitor who has the superior record. They haven't met since 2024. Since then, it's fair to say that Bublik has improved, so much so that he's now ranked as the world number ten. However, the Kazakh competitor had a testing match against Hubert Hurkacz last time out. As a result, he could easily have less than a full tank here.
In contrast, the German enjoyed a simplistic first-round win, getting the job done in straight sets, which should leave him not only feeling confident but feeling fresh ahead of this contest. Struff may be ranked considerably lower than Alexander Bublik, but he knows how to make life tough for this particular opponent, so do not be surprised if he causes a bit of an upset here.

Is Jan-Lennard Struff getting the respect that he deserves here? For my money, not quite. The German remains a very decent player on his day, while he looked in good form last time out. We know what Bublik can do, sure, and he ought to have enough to the locker to prevail, but let's be honest, the Kazakh player had a tough match last time out, not only playing three sets but playing two tie breaks.
With Bublik perhaps not as well-rested as he could be after a very hard match, Struff can definitely compete. After all, the German has avoided a straight-set defeat in each of his previous five matches against this opponent. I'm betting on him to extend that streak.
