Sinner will begin his quest for a trifecta at the Australian Open on Tuesday against Gaston. The former world’s No.1 and two-time Australian Open defending champion didn’t have a busy warm-up leading up to Melbourne this year, playing just one exhibition match against arch-nemeses Carlos Alcaraz in South Korea on January 10. Sinner lost the match 5-7, 6-7, though the result shouldn’t be taken seriously as both players opted not to bring their A-game into the non-bearing event.

As for Gaston, the Frenchman lost to Matteo Arnaldi in three sets in the first round of the 2026 Brisbane International.
