Holger Rune of Denmark will battle with Mackenzie McDonald of the United States for a spot in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Queen’s Club Championship on Wednesday.
Rune cruised through to the second round at Queens with a clinical 6-3, 6-4 win over Christopher O’Connell of Australia in the first round. Rune connected 60 percent of his first serves, collecting 30 points of these serves and adding 18 off the second. He also broke O’Connell two times and scored 18 return points.
McDonald racked up three consecutive victories to reach the second round of this ATP 500 event. The American defeated compatriot Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-2 7-6(6) and Henry Searle 6-4 6-2 in the qualification phase before besting 38-year-old vet Gael Monfils 6-4 6-4 in the first round. McDonald improved his grass-court record to 41-30.
