by Bradley Gibbs in ATP French Open Picks
On Friday, during the morning for stateside viewers, as the action continues to come thick and fast at Roland Garros, Hamad Medjedovic will take on Daniel Atlmaier. The Serbian will be hoping to continue on his best ever run at the French Open, though he may need to raise his game once again following that win against the lower-ranked Cerundolo brother. Sure, that was a pleasing win, but beating an in-form Daniel Altmaier will require the world number 74 to pull out more.
Sitting at 66 in the ATP Rankings, Altmaier isn't exactly a top-tier player, but he arrives in strong form having beaten world number four Taylor Fritz by three sets to one in the first round. That win really should mean that the German is full of confidence, so much so that I'd argue that this is a bigger opportunity for the 26-year-old than the early odds suggest.

Our Hamad Medjedovic vs Daniel Altmaier Prediction
Sure, Hamad Medjedovic is quite a sturdy favorite here, and sturdy favorites have a good record at Rolland Garros, though I really do feel that the early market is underestimating Daniel Altmaier here. The German has looked in great condition at the French Open so far, gaining lots of confidence from that massive first-round win against Taylor Fritz. He also has some other pleasing clay-court wins under his belt recently, beating Flavio Cobolli in Turin recently, which tells me that he can do better here than the odds suggest, especially since Cobolli got the better of Medjedovic at the 2024 French Open. Our Hamad Medjedovic vs Daniel Altmaier Pick: Daniel Altmaier to Win.
