The United States and Great Britain will meet in Pool B of the 2026 WBC on Saturday night. Team USA came into this year’s competition as the -110 favorites to win gold and are certain to top the group. They started the competition with a lot of swagger after blowing away Brazil 15-5 in Houston on Friday. The USA blew the Brazilians open with a big ninth inning, scoring 7 runs on three hits and five walks. Great Britain’s pitchers could be in for a rough night.
Great Britain, meanwhile, struggled against Mexico in its opening game. A pair of homers plus a 4-run ninth inning saw the Mexicans cruise past the valiant Brits on Friday. However, Britain will have lots of positives to take from this matchup. Their pitching staff got out of several jams and levelled the scores with the 2023 semi-finalists at some point. Still, things won’t get any easier as they take on the tournament’s favorites.
