It’s an all-Argentine showdown on Thursday at the Bastad Open as Francisco Cerundolo takes on Mariano Navone for a spot in the final of this clay-court event.
Cerundolo hopes to snap a four-match losing skid in his showdown with Navone, who defeated him in their first and only matchup a year ago in the quarterfinal of the Bucharest Open 5-7 6-4 7-5. Cerundolo, who lost both his opening round matches in the French and Wimbledon Open, must regain the form that made him a fearsome opponent in the early stages of the clay-court season this year.
Navone defeated Tomas Barrios Vera 7-5 7-5 in the first round of the 2025 Nordea Open on Tuesday, extending his win streak to six matches. Navone had rattled off five consecutive wins to capture the Braunschweig Challenger a week ago.
