Sweden (4-3) takes on France (6-1) in a FIBA World Cup Qualifying game on Sunday, August 30, at Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
Both teams are heading into Sunday's match having won their last game. In a bid to keep their World Cup hopes alive, Sweden carved out an 86-81 victory over Lauri Markkanen and Finland. Sweden forced Finland to a bad outside shooting game, as they held the Finnish to a measly 24.2% clip from the three-point line.
Sweden relied on the heroics of Miami Heat combo wing Pelle Larsson. He scored a game-high 31 points, making 52.9% of his shots and going to the free throw line 14 times. It's safe to say that Larsson will be a marked man on Sunday.
The other double-digit scorers for Sweden are Simon Birgander (17 points) and Ludde Hakanson (14 points).
As for France, they soundly defeated Slovenia, 92-67. San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama only logged 21 minutes, but was able to haul in 22 points and 9 rebounds. Maxime Raynaud and Matthew Strazel chipped in 13 markers apiece.
With Sweden playing in front of their home crowd, this game against the mighty France should be an interesting watch.
