On Wednesday, the action at the US Open continues, with early-round matches coming thick and fast. On the WTA side of things, the first of Wednesday's matches that I'm interested in from a betting point of view is the one between Emma Navarro and Caty McNally. As the world number 11 and a player who thrived at this tournament a year ago, reaching the semi-finals, Emma Navarro will be looking to go deep. We know she can be a top hard-court player when she's on song, and she got underway with a nice straight win against Yafan Yang on Sunday.
For McNally, this looks like quite a big ask. The 23-year-old did defeat Jil Teichmann in the first round, playing some decent tennis, but this is a sizable step up for a player who has only reached the third round in one of her previous six US Open visits. Ranked outside of the top 100 right now, she is expected to falter here.
