Emiliana Arango vs Francesca Jones Prediction & Picks - WTA Guadalajara

At the WTA event in Merida, Mexico, also known as the Merida Open Akron, there's an interesting clash taking place on Thursday, during the morning for US viewers/bettors, as Emiliano Arango takes on Francesca Jones.

The Colombian has the advantage of playing in South America, though she did have a tougher match last time out, so may not be as fresh as her British opponent. Then again, we did see Arango beat Jones as recently as two weeks ago, and that recent success should fill her with confidence here. Moreover, she got the job done in straight sets last time out, which will also have boosted the confidence of a player who has now won eight hard-court matches in a row. 

Making it beyond Sherif in the first round was a big result for Franceska Jones, though we shouldn't overlook the fact that she benefitted from her opponent retiring after the first set on that occasion. She too has been in good form of late, but she lost to Arango in Mexico recently, so she may not be quite as confident as her opponent.
