The fourth round of the women’s singles tournament at the 2025 Cincinnati Open will see former Wimbledon Open champion Elena Rybakina facing off with Australian Open champion Madison Keys for the right to advance into the quarterfinal round of this prestigious WTA 1000 event.
Rybakina booked her spot in the round of 16 in Cincinnati after hacking out a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Elise Mertens of Belgium on Monday. Rybakina, who also needed an extra set to beat Renata Zarazua 4-6, 6-0, 7-5, fired 11 aces and captured 86 percent of her first serves to outgun Mertens. The Kazakh also collected 32 return points to secure three key breakpoints in the hard-fought match.
After surviving Eva Lys in the second round 1-6, 6-3, 7-6, Keys dominated Aoi Ito of Japan 6-4, 6-0 to barge into the round of 16. Keys traded breaks with the Japanese in the early going before rattling off three quick points in the 10th game to take the set. Sensing a noticeable drop in Ito’s level of play, Keys pressed the action in the second set en route to a bagel. With the win, Keys improved her 2025 hard-court record to 24-4.
