Without a doubt, Toluca is the team to beat in this Liga MX season. The team coached by Antonio Mohamed snatched the spotlight from América in Mexican football. In the last Clausura tournament, they were crowned champions by beating América 2-0 at the Nemesio Díaz Stadium; months later, in Carson, they would reaffirm their victory by also winning the Campeón de Campeones trophy from América.
In Mohamed's own words, he says his team has the foundation to establish a dynasty in Mexican football; although it may sound like an exaggeration, it might not be. Toluca boasts two of the best Mexican players in midfield today, Vega and Angulo, and if that weren't enough, they have Paulinho, the team's leading striker, well known in the Mexican league for his consistent goal-scoring ability. These three, along with other talented players like Jeuss Gallardo, make Toluca a formidable team.

Ambriz's goal and Canales's goal in the 44th minute gave them a 2-0 lead. They had to settle for a draw when América came back after the 82nd minute and tied the score with goals from Aguirre and Juárez.
Meanwhile, Toluca demonstrated a masterclass in counterattacking against Chivas, scoring goals in this way, the first of the match through Paulinho and the last through Vega to seal the 3-0 lead. Bruno Méndez will miss the match against Monterrey for the Diablos Rojos, as he will have to serve a suspension after receiving a red card against Chivas.
