A three-time finalist in this Australian Grand Slam, Daniil Medvedev has racked up three consecutive victories without any real surprises. After defeating Jesper De Jong and Quentin Halys in his first two rounds, he had a little more trouble getting past Fabian Marozsan in a five-set match. This slight dip in form is hardly surprising for a player who has been racking up victories since the start of the season, having already won the Brisbane tournament against Brandon Nakashima.
Learner Tien, meanwhile, started the 2026 season with a new title under his belt: the ATP Next Gen Finals at the end of last year. This title should give him the confidence he needs to have a great season. As a result, he has qualified for the second consecutive year for the round of 16 at the Australian Open, even though this is only his second appearance in Melbourne.
