Korea Republic and Czech Republic will clash in Pool C of the 2026 World Baseball Classic on Thursday morning. The Koreans are making their sixth appearance at the WBC, where they’ve enjoyed some success. They finished as runners-up in the 2009 edition and have scored more runs than any of their rivals in Pool C. Their roster includes several MLB talents, including Jung-Hoo Lee of the Giants and Hyeseaong Kim of the Dodgers.
Czechia, on the other side, will be making their third appearance at this tournament. They won 8-5 in their 2023 debut against China and went on to finish 1-3 in the pool. This performance has helped the game grow in the country, although the Europeans still lack star power compared to most of their competitors. In fact, they don’t have any MLB players on their roster, which may negatively impact their experience levels.

Lee of the Giants, for example, managed to hit above the league’s average last year, and will be among the top hitters in their lineup. MLB fans will also get a chance to see their former All-Star veteran, Hyun-Jin Ryu. The 38-year-old pitcher will add big-game experience to the squad.
