Columbus’ struggles extended far beyond the last two games, where they were outscored 9-5. Prior to their last win, which was over Anaheim on Tuesday, Dec. 16, they lost five in a row, scoring two goals or less in three of those games. The Blue Jackets have had trouble scoring this season, averaging just 2.89 goals per game while allowing a league-high 3.51 goals per game. As for the Kings, LA is coming off a pretty long layoff, having last played on Thursday, where they recorded a 2-1 win over Tampa Bay. However, they had lost their last four games prior to that one. Of those losses, they didn’t score more than two in any of them. On the season, they are averaging 2.54 goals per game while allowing 2.89 goals per game. Los Angeles has not scored more than two goals in a game since Dec. 10 vs. Seattle.
