In an NHL Eastern Conference showdown, the Boston Bruins will take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday at TD Garden.
In the contest, the Bruins will look to match their longest winning streak of the season with a third consecutive victory. After opening the week with a heavy 7-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators, Boston has won back-to-back home games against the New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres.
The Bruins look full of goals, with David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie continuing where they left off in 2024-25, but the team has been fragile defensively. During a recent five-game slide, Boston allowed a whopping 28 goals.
Since beginning the season with a five-game winning run, the Hurricanes have struggled a bit lately, but they still hold one of the best records in the league at 7-3-0.
After losing three of four games, Rod Brind'Amour's side beat the Islanders 6-2 on Thursday night. Carolina averages a league-high 3.90 goals per game and seems capable of outscoring any opponent.
Recently, Carolina has needed all the offensive production it can get, as the team has lost several defensemen to injury. On Saturday, they might be joined on the sidelines by Carolina's top goal-scorer, Seth Jarvis, presenting another challenge to Brind'Amour.
