Italy and Brazil will go head-to-head in Pool B of the 2026 World Baseball Classic on Saturday night. The Italians will be looking to get off to a bright start in the group and embrace their underdog tag behind the USA and Mexico. Their team features several major leaguers, including KC Royals sluggers Vinnie Pasquantino and Jac Caglianone. They’ll likely battle it out with Mexico for the second spot in this group.
Brazil, on the other side of the grass, are the underdogs in the group and the tournament. The Italians are the massive betting favorites. They’ve been impressive in their build-up to this tournament, which is why we’re backing them to win their opening game. They defeated Chicago Cubs 4-9 earlier this month before their narrow 4-3 loss to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. This will be the first time they’ve played Brazil in a friendly or competitive matchup. The Brazilians posted poor results in their exhibition games against the Athletics (14-4) and the Rangers (13-2) ahead of this tournament. It’s difficult to look past another blowout loss for them against the Italians.
