Ben Shelton of the United States will try to arrest a three-match losing streak against Borna Gojo in Monday’s first round of the 2025 BMW Munich Open.
Shelton has been on a mini-slump since reaching the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Indian Wells Open. The American dropped his quarterfinal duel with eventual Indian Wells champion Jack Draper 6-4 7-5 before crashing out in the first round in Miami and Monte Carlo against Chak Lam Coleman Wong of Hongkong 7-6(3) 2-6 7-6(5) and Alejandro Fokina 6-7(2) 6-2 6-1, respectively.
Gojo made it to the main draw of the BMW Open after downing Germany’s Daniel Musur 6-3 7-6(6) and Kazakhstan’s Alexander Shevchenko 6-4 6-4 in the qualifier. Ranked 410th in the world, the 27-year-old Gojo is setting his sight on the biggest win of his career in Monday’s match with the Australian Open semifinalist Shelton.

Our Borna Gojo vs Ben Shelton Prediction
He may not be an elite-level clay-court player, but I believe Ben Shelton is still too strong for Borna Gojo in this first-round matchup in Munich. Sure, Gojo has played and won more clay-court matches in his career, yet more than 75 percent of his victories came at the ITF/Challenger level. On the other hand, Shelton is a legit ATP Tour campaigner and top-20ish player. Sometimes, It doesn’t need the mind of a rocket scientist or a tennis savant to know who will win in this lopsided pairing. Our betting prediction for Borna Gojo vs. Ben Shelton: Ben Shelton will cover -3.5 Games.
