Moutet competed at the 2025 Shanghai Masters, where he was bounced out of the tournament as early as the first round after losing to American rising star Learner Tien in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 4-6. The Frenchman had also reached the semifinal of the ATP 250 Hangzhou Open, where he picked up wins over Arthur Cazaux and Tomas Martin Etcheverry before losing to upstart Valentin Royer 3-6, 2-6 in the final four.

Ranked 168th in the world, Tomic reached the main draw of the 2025 Almaty Open after beating Denis Yevseyev 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Marc-Andrea Huesler 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 in the qualification stages. Tomic had also played at the Jinan Challenger, where he made a run to the quarterfinals before losing to Shintaro Mochizuki in a gut-wrenching three-set battle 3-6 7-6(3) 7-6(6).
