Mirra Andreeva resumes her quest for an elusive Channel Slam as she targets a straight-set win over former Wimbledon Open champion Barbora Krejcikova in the second round.
Current Form:
Mirra Andreeva staved off a solid showing from Magda Linette 7-5, 6-4 to secure her spot in the second round of the 2026 Wimbledon Open. Andreeva, who won her Grand Slam title at the French Open several weeks ago, carries a 12-7 record on grass and reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Open last year.
Former Wimbledon Open champion Barbora Krejcikova demolished wild-card entry Hannah Klugman 6-1, 6-4 in the first round. It was a much-needed victory for Krejcikova, whose promising start to this year’s grass-court season was derailed by an upper respiratory illness on the eve of the final at the Libema Open. Krejcikova also competed at Eastbourne International, where she dropped her first-round match to Kimberly Birrell 3-6, 6-7.
The Matchup: Andreeva owns a 3-1 record over Krejcikova. This will be the second time they will play against each other at Wimbledon. The Russian defeated Krejcikova 6-3, 4-0 in the round of 64 of the 2023 Wimbledon Open.

Our Barbora Krejcikova vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction
Mirra Andreeva posts a straightforward win over Barbora Krejcikova 6-4, 6-3
Mirra Andreeva should be good enough to sweep the former Wimbledon Open champion.
Andreeva, who lost her only grass-court match before this year’s Wimbledon Open (loss to Ekaterina Alexandrova 3-6, 4-6), proved she doesn’t need a productive grass-court warm-up to deliver a straightforward win over a solid opponent in Magda Linette in the first round.
As expected, Krejcikova outclassed her British opponent in the first round. However, the real test for her will start in the second round against Andreeva, who is raring to complete a Channel slam. Krejicikova has gone 0-5 against top-10 players over the last two years. Krejcikova’s last match against a top-10 level player came at the 2026 Rome Masters, where she suffered a heavy beating at the hands of Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 3-6.
Krejcikova should treat Andreeva in the same class as Sabalenka. Fresh off a Grand Slam title at 19, the Russian possesses every tool necessary to stage another deep run in a Grand Slam event.
Things would be different if Krecikova were in her tip-top form. Unfortunately, injuries at the worst possible time continue to derail the Czech’s campaign in every turn.
