Rock bottom Real Oviedo face a monumental task on Saturday as they face in-form Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.
Last week's drab 0-0 draw with Rayo Vallecano means that Oviedo have now gone seven games without a victory and have failed to score in five of those contests. However, thanks to sides such as Girona and Levante also being in woeful form, a shock victory on Saturday could lift Oviedo out of the bottom three for the first time in two months.
After a slow start to the campaign, Atletico have hit top form and now sit just four points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid. Last week's 0-1 win at Getafe was the fourth in a row for Diego Simeone's men, and as usual, their success has been built on a rock-solid backline.
Atletico's record of 11 goals conceded in 13 games is the joint best in La Liga, and with the likes of Julian Alvarez in top form at the other end of the pitch, Madrid are once again demonstrating that they are one of Europe's elite teams.
