The Atlanta Dream (1-0) visit the Washington Mystics (0-1) for Game 2 of their 2026 WNBA Playoffs First Round matchup on Wednesday, September 30, at CareFirst Arena.
In Game 1 of their Best-of-3 playoff series, the Mystics actually got off to a good start. Their defense stood tall in the first half, holding the Dream to only 36 points in the first two quarters. The Mystics controlled the tempo and headed into the second half with a five-point lead.
However, the Dream put on a show in the second half, as they got going on offense. That third-quarter spurt was pivotal, with Atlanta outscoring Washington, 29-12.
Dream star Rhyne Howard led all scorers with her 26 points and 5 steals, while Allisha Gray chipped in 22 points. Angel Reese put up her usual strong efforts, hauling in a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sonia Citron topscored for the Mystics with her 25 points. Shakira Austin also had a monster double-double performance of 12 points and 16 rebounds, but the team's horrible third quarter was too difficult to overcome.
The good news for the Mystics is they're going back to their home court, where they have a decent record of 15 wins against only 7 defeats.
