Aryna Sabalenka is back at Roland Garros, aiming to add another title to her already impressive collection of Grand Slam trophies. A two-time champion at the Australian Open and the US Open, she came close to winning the Paris title last year, reaching the final against Coco Gauff. This year, the 28-year-old achieved the remarkable feat of winning back-to-back titles at Indian Wells against Elena Rybakina and in Miami against Cori Gauff, allowing her to arrive in top form for this edition. And although she has played little on clay, she didn’t seem bothered and has racked up some impressive, decisive victories. 

Also a two-time champion at the Australian Open and the US Open, Naomi Osaka had, however, never managed to advance past the third round of this Paris tournament in her nine appearances. Having played very little this year, she has nonetheless already faced the Belarusian twice this year at Indian Wells and Miami and has never managed to come out on top. This track record is unlikely to give her much confidence heading into this new matchup.
