The main event for this weekend’s UFC Fight Night will pit Arman Tsarukyan (22-3) against Dan Hooker (24-12) in a 5 round lightweight battle. The winner will potentially get a shot at the current champion, Ilia Topuria in the near future.
Arman Tsarukyan is currently the #1 contender for the title and is taking a bit of a risk in this matchup. Defeating Hooker, who is currently sitting in 6th in the rankings, will not do much to bolster his standings. Tsarukyan has won 4 straight fights and has done so over some big names in the division. After knocking out Beneil Dariush in December of 2023, he most recently scored a split decision victory over Charles Oliveira back in April of 2024. This long layoff could cause some ring rust for him but he is still a heavy favorite in the fight.
His opponent, Dan Hooker is also coming of a rather long layoff with his last fight coming back in August of 2023. He is riding a 3-fight win streak and at 35 years old, this could be his last chance to move up into a position to get a shot at the title

It is interesting to see Arman as such a heavy favorite here against Hooker. This is no slight on Arman as we do believe that he is worth of the ranking, but Hooker is not an easy matchup. Hooker’s style along with his 78% takedown defense should be enough to give Arman some issues in finishing him early in this one. We think Hooker hangs around long enough by using his reach to get us past 3.5 rounds for the main event.
