The French Open Grand Slam is finally kicking off in the 2026 season! And in this first-round match, fans will have the pleasure of watching a showdown between Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya and France’s Lois Boisson!

Anna Kalinskaya is closing in on the top 20 in the 2026 season and the ranking she held during the 2024 season! A quarterfinalist at the Doha hardcourt tournament earlier this year, the 27-year-old also performed well at the Charleston clay-court tournament, reaching the quarterfinals once again. More recently, the Russian has had a highly successful preparation for this Grand Slam, defeating K. Siniakova and, most notably, top-15 player B. Bencic at the Rome tournament to reach the round of 16 and boost her confidence. 

In contrast, Lois Boisson arrives in the French capital in a difficult position. While she dazzled the crowd last season during her very first appearance by reaching the semifinals, the 23-year-old was sidelined from the tennis courts for many months due to an injury. Having returned only at the end of April, she has managed just one victory on clay so far this season and will have to give it her all to hope to recapture the excitement of last season.
