One other match that I'm interested in from a betting viewpoint on Saturday is the ATP match between Alex Michelsen and Learner Tien. This all American affair will take place in Toronto, where both players played very well last time out. Michelsen certainly deserves lots of respect for beating Lorenzo Musetti in three sets, and it may be that he kicks on following that big win, but let's be honest, such a victory required a quite large effort, so it's not easy to envisage the higher-ranked player struggling with tiredness. In contrast, Tien has made light work of winning in the minimum number of sets at this tournament, so he may be fresher, while it is Tien who won when the pair last met on a hard surface, so don't be too surprised if the lower-ranked player comes out on top here. If anything, I make Learner Tien the narrow favorite, so odds of +110 look a little generous. Tien has had more time to get used to the switch back to this surface and he's clearly thriving as a result. He's won five out of six since ending the grass-court season, while in beating both Denis Shapovalov and Reilly Opelka in straight sets in Toronto so far, he really has looked strong. Michelsen delivered a big effort to beat Lorenzo Musetti last time out sure, but that three-set slog will have taken plenty out of him, and I'm just not sure he's got enough left in the tank to warrant being the favorite here.
