Manchester City vs. PSG: Man City Locked In on the Pitch

Mired in off-field issues that could carry heavy consequences in the near future, Manchester City showed this weekend that the situation isn't affecting their performances on the pitch.

Winners in style at Anfield (3-0), the Skyblues struck a major blow by dominating Liverpool, a direct title rival. That sixth win in as many Premier League matches lets them hold on to first place and extend their perfect start to the season domestically. Winners at Porto on Matchday 1 (2-0), Enzo Maresca's side also got their European campaign off to a strong start before hosting the reigning back-to-back champions (see our Manchester City vs. PSG prediction) for a hotly anticipated clash at the Etihad Stadium.

City have never lost at home to PSG in 4 meetings.

After a sluggish first few weeks, Paris Saint-Germain are building momentum.

With three straight league wins, a big 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava, and all their key players back, Luis Enrique's side have rediscovered the stability their game lacked in August. Tonight, the two-time European champions face their first real test of the season. Used to raising their level when the competition gets tougher, PSG will need to match the intensity the English side bring for all 90 minutes of this match.

City Unbeaten at the Etihad Stadium Against PSG

For the past two years, Paris Saint-Germain have made a habit of bullying English clubs. Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Chelsea have all felt the weight of Parisian dominance. Even Manchester City paid the price when Luis Enrique's players came alive at the Parc des Princes in January 2025, in a match that served as a turning point for PSG. At home, though, the Skyblues have fond memories of Marquinhos and company's visits.

In four meetings at the Etihad Stadium, the record speaks for itself: three wins for the Citizens and one draw. It's a stat that shows just how big a task awaits the Parisian club tonight, on Matchday 2 of the Champions League.

With the post-Guardiola era looking treacherous, Enzo Maresca has taken over brilliantly. Since their Community Shield loss to open the season, Rayan Cherki and company have strung together seven wins across all competitions heading into tonight's match.

This run is built in part on a rediscovered defensive foundation, with just five goals conceded against eighteen scored. That balance, put in place by the manager, lets him work calmly early in the season.

Despite the serious allegations hanging over the club like a sword of Damocles, Manchester City remain strong on the pitch. The Skyblues hope to extend their winning run when they host PSG at the Etihad Stadium.
