The grass-court swing has reached its peak this week with the start of the main draw at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the 2025 season. The iconic tournament on British soil promises high drama and intense matchups, with 2,000 ranking points on the line for the champion, a crucial haul in the race for the top spots in both the ATP and WTA rankings.

On the men’s side, Carlos Alcaraz is chasing a three-peat, aiming to defend his crown for the third straight year. For the women, Aryna Sabalenka is seeking redemption, hoping to shake off the sting of back-to-back Grand Slam final losses and finally break through at the All England Club.

A Fierce Battle Between Alcaraz and Sinner

Wimbledon Title Race

The men’s draw at Wimbledon 2025 comes with massive expectations, and all signs point to a head-to-head showdown between two of the sport’s current titans: Jannik Sinner (odds: +175 at FanDuel), the reigning Australian Open champ, and Carlos Alcaraz (odds: +120), fresh off his title win at the French Open.

While Sinner has yet to fully find his footing on grass, “Carlitos” is a two-time defending champion at the All England Club, making him the man to beat. Still, even if the Spaniard lifts the trophy again, he won’t take over the No. 1 spot in the rankings just yet.

Beyond the top two contenders, keep an eye on Novak Djokovic, a seasoned grass-court master, and Jack Draper, the rising British star who’s looked increasingly comfortable on this surface. They’re projected to meet in the quarterfinals, an early blockbuster.

In terms of form, Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, and Jiri Lehecka are dark horse picks to make a deep run, while Alexander Bublik, known for his grass-court flair, remains a wildcard, if he can get out of his own way mentally.

Sabalenka and Swiatek: Still Chasing Wimbledon Glory

Swiatek and Sabalenka

Grass has been a thorn in the side of both Aryna Sabalenka (odds: +260) and Iga Swiatek (odds: +700), neither of whom has ever won Wimbledon. In fact, neither has captured a Grand Slam title this year, Sabalenka fell short in both the Australian Open and French Open finals, making her one of the most motivated players in the draw.

The good news? They’re on opposite sides of the bracket and would only meet in a potential final. Regardless of how the tournament plays out, Sabalenka will hold onto her No. 1 WTA ranking, while Swiatek can climb as high as No. 2 (she's currently fourth).

With both top seeds showing cracks, there’s a real opportunity for others to break through:

  • Elena Rybakina (odds: +450) Wimbledon champ in 2022
  • Marketa Vondrousova (+1200) Defending 2023 champion
  • Coco Gauff (+700) Fresh off her French Open title
  • Mirra Andreeva (+1600) Teen phenom on the rise
  • Jasmine Paolini (+2500) 2024 finalist and breakout star

The women’s draw is famously unpredictable, and this year is no different.
