The most unique and often the most exciting event that the sport of golf has to offer is now right around the corner. On Friday, it’ll be all about team play on the Black Course at Bethpage in Farmingdale, New York, where the 2025 Ryder Cup will take place. Read on for our best bets ahead of this prestigious tournament.

Will the pendulum swing back in the direction of the hosts?

When the Ryder Cup was last played, it was the Europeans who had the final laugh, defeating the Americans on Italian soil by a five-point margin. However, despite being the holders, Team Europe is not fancied by the betting market to repeat that trick.

On American shores, Team USA is strongly expected to steal the title that they so disappointingly lost two years ago. Recent history, with the men from the US winning in Wisconsin in 2021 and in Minnesota back in 2016, would suggest that the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas can wrestle the Ryder Cup back from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Tommy Fleetwood, all of whom will once again be competing for the European team.

Not since ‘The Miracle of Medinah’, when Ian Poulter inspired that 2012 comeback in Illinois, have the Europeans got the job done in the US. Will that change here? Well, those who’ve followed this competition closely over the years will know that nothing is impossible, but I will say that it’ll likely take a huge effort from the men crossing the Atlantic.

What does the betting market say?

As mentioned above, the Americans are firmly in the driving seat as far as the early betting market is concerned.

Ryder Cup 2025 winner odds:

  • USA -150

  • Europe +170

  • Tie +1000

Those wanting to get behind a home-soil victory in a financial sense will struggle to do better than odds of -150, with Team USA as skinny as -175 with some sportsbooks. The current best odds of -150 imply that the hosts have a 60% chance of coming out on top, and try as I might, I’m not sure I can disagree with that, so I won’t be opposing Keegan Bradley’s team in the outright market.

All is not lost, though, as there may just be some value to be had if we look beyond the more basic markets. See below for a selection of viable Ryder Cup bets.

Tommy Fleetwood top three total points scorer: +320 with FanDuel

Tommy Fleetwood is one of the main men for the European team. In fact, you could argue that he is the main man.

Of those due to compete for Team Europe at Bethpage, only Robert MacIntyre has a better record than Fleetwood, who in terms of percentage of points won has an even better Ryder Cup record than both Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm. And let’s be real, Bobby Mac, as good as he is, has only played at the Ryder Cup once before, so he still needs to prove that he’s as effective as Fleetwood over the long term. In other words, the man with the luscious locks is the one to focus on.

To be honest, I will be stunned if Fleetwood doesn’t enjoy himself at Bethpage. We’re talking about one of the very best PGA Tour performers in 2025, with Fleetwood ranking as the second best player for strokes gained: total. The Englishman also comes into this tournament off the back of winning at East Lake, so his confidence should be sky high. That can only help a man that has a fine record of delivering the goods under the Ryder Cup’s unique conditions.

In 2023, Fleetwood won three points, leaving him as the fifth highest scoring player, but I’m betting that he can do a little better here. After all, it’s impossible to deny the improvements made by the man now ranked as the world number seven, and as he approaches this tournament in the form of his life, he can play a leading role for the visitors, so much so that odds of +320 look big enough for me to get involved.

Tyrell Hatton to score two points or more: -135 with FanDuel

tyrell hatton

Another European that has me interested ahead of the action in Farmingdale is Tyrell Hatton, who like Fleetwood has often come alive under Ryder Cup conditions.

One of those who left the PGA Tour behind in search of greater riches on the LIV Golf scene, Hatton hasn’t exactly lost his way in recent times, winning in Dubai back in January, before finishing inside the top 20 in three of the four majors played in 2025.

Moreover, this is a player who was superb when the Ryder Cup was last played, securing a whopping 3.5 points. The conditions on the Black Course at Bethpage should also favor Hatton’s approach, so it’s not too difficult to see the fiery Brit causing a few problems for his American counterparts over the weekend.
