Zhang Zhizhen will battle compatriot Bu Yunchaokete on Monday for the right to represent China in the championship match of the 2024 Hangzhou Open. Zhang punched his way to the semi-final round after downing Roberto Carlos Baena 6-3 6-3 in straight sets. Known for his thunderous serves, Zhang fired seven aces and won 77 percent of his first and second serves to dispatch his Spanish foe to the delight of the Chinese crowd at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Center. Yunchaokete arranged a semifinal match with Zhang after eliminating Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets 6-4 6-2. The 22-year-old Yunchaokete has won his last four matches, including a victory over Hugo Gaston of France in the opening round of this tourney.
