The 44-19-5 Winnipeg Jets travel to the 33-32-4 New Jersey Devils on Thursday. Things have been tough for the Devils this season. They beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in their most recent matchup, though that is not the strongest form guide this year. Only six teams have conceded more goals than the Devils, a massive drop off from their position last year. In fact, they have already shipped eight more than they did through the entire 2022/23 season and there are still 13 games to go including this one. Blue-line injuries have not helped with Dougie Hamilton missing since November, Jonas Siegenthaler absent for 20 games and Colin Miller missing a chunk before being traded to the Jets.
Winnipeg are looking for their first division title since moving from Atlanta, with this their 13th season. They have built their campaign around excellent netminding and a strong defense. They have been exceptional of late, with Laurent Brossoit producing back-to-back shutouts and Connor Hellebuyck, adding one of his own. Combined they have a .924 save percentage and a 2.22 GAA, the best tandem in the league. This is the middle of a five-game road swing for the Jets, winning both so far, 6-1 at the Columbus Blue Jackets and 4-2 at the New York Rangers. The Rangers have only taken nine losses at home this season and that made it five wins in the Jets' last six on the road. Josh Morrissey had a four-point night the last time these two teams played with both Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers netting twice.
