Two-cellar dwelling teams in the East face off on Wednesday as the Washington Wizards visit the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.
The losers of the last five games are the Wizards, who currently hold the worst record in the NBA at 15-56. Washington has gutted out their roster over the past two seasons by trading key players such as Bradley Beal, Kyle Kuzma, and Deni Avdija in exchange for draft assets with which they hope to select a young player who can alter the franchise's direction.
On the other hand, the Sixers are the complete opposite to the Wizards. Philadelphia entered the 2024-25 NBA season brimming with championship aspirations after forming a formidable All-Star trio of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxe,y and free-agency acquisition Paul George in the offseason. Unfortunately, tragedy struck the team before they could even take off. Joel Embiid struggled to get back to form with a problematic knee. Paul George went in and out of rotation because of multiple injuries, leaving Maxey to do the heavy lifting throughout the year.
