The Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets meet tonight at Ball Arena, and the contrast between these two teams could hardly be sharper right now. One side is limping through another difficult stretch of a long season, while the other is finding its rhythm again despite dealing with significant absences.
Washington comes into this matchup in a prolonged slump. The Wizards have dropped 35 of their last 46 games and have lost six of their past seven overall. That stretch includes an ugly 128-115 road loss to Sacramento last night, a game that got away from them early and never truly felt competitive. On the season, Washington is averaging 112.6 points per game on 46.1% shooting, but those offensive numbers are routinely undone by major defensive issues. The Wizards are surrendering 123.9 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.2% from the field, a combination that leaves little margin for error on most nights.
Denver, meanwhile, appears to be trending in the opposite direction. The Nuggets have won five of their last six games and are aiming for a fourth straight victory after a solid 118-109 road win over Dallas on Wednesday. On the season, Denver is averaging 122.7 points per game on an efficient 50.2 percent shooting, while allowing 117.5 points on 47.2 percent shooting. Those numbers reflect a team that can score in bunches and has been good enough defensively to control games when it matters.

Our Denver Nuggets vs Washington Wizards Prediction
What makes Denver’s recent run especially impressive is that it has come without Nikola Jokic, along with Cameron Johnson, Christian Braun, Jonas Valanciunas, and Tamar Bates, all of whom are sidelined. In Jokic’s absence, the Nuggets have leaned heavily on Jamal Murray, who has elevated his play and taken command of the offense. Murray’s scoring, playmaking, and leadership have helped Denver maintain structure and confidence even without its MVP centerpiece.
Washington will again be without Cam Whitmore, Bilal Coulibaly, Tristan Vukcevic, Khris Middleton, and Trae Young. Since trading away CJ McCollum, the Wizards have struggled to establish any sort of offensive identity, and the absence of Young, who has yet to make his debut with the team, has only added to that instability. Playing the second night of a back-to-back at altitude is one of the toughest spots in the league, and Washington has shown very little recently to suggest it can overcome those circumstances.
Given the gap in form, depth, and overall cohesion, this matchup sets up as a difficult night for Washington. All signs point toward Denver controlling the game early and pulling away, making a comfortable home win the most likely outcome. Our prediction for Denver Nuggets vs. Washington Wizards: Over 233.5 points.
