The Boston Celtics (43-23) will host the Washington Wizards (16-49) on Saturday evening. These teams have met twice previously this season, with the Celtics coming away with massive wins in each. After winning the 1st matchup by 29, they followed that up by winning by 41 just a month later. Those wins came without the return of Jayson Tatum, who is likely to see action again on Saturday.
The Celtics have been great without Tatum this year, and now with him returning, they have looked even stronger. While he is easing his way back a bit, Tatum is averaging almost 20 points per game and is grabbing nearly 7 boards per game. While the Celtics started out March with a 4-1 record, they have since dropped their last 2 games. Losses to San Antonio and OKC are nothing to be too concerned about, but they are losses nonetheless.
Washington has seemingly been in complete tank mode since the All-Star break. They have lost 10 straight games and have been losing most of them by a large margin. However, they did fight hard in Orlando on Thursday in their last game. They forced overtime, but were unable to pull out the upset as they fell 136-131.
The best chance for the Wizards in this matchup is if most of the Celtics just do not show up at the arena. The spread is one of the largest you will see for the NBA and for good reason. The Celtics are chasing down the Pistons for the top spot in the East, while the Wizards are dropping games to get the #1 pick in the draft.
