The Phillies will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today when they host the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. First Pitch for this NL East contest is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. EST. Washington got the win Friday when a throwing error by J.T. Realmuto allowed Daylen Lile to steal home, giving the Nationals a 5-4 lead in the ninth. In yesterday’s game, the Phillies took a 5-0 lead after the fourth and never looked back. Washington added two in the sixth but closed out the scoring with a run in the eighth to make the final 6-4, Philadelphia. 

Jake Irvin will get the start for the Nationals. Irvin has an 8-8 record in 26 starts this season with a 5.30 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and .266 OBA. He’s gone 6-5 in 14 road starts with a 5.49 ERA and .272 OBA. He faced the Phillies in Philadelphia earlier in the season (April 30) and took the loss after pitching six innings, giving up eight hits (including two home runs) and six earned runs. As for the Phillies, they’ll go with Ranger Suarez. He has a 9-6 record this season in 19 starts with a 3.25 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and .243 OBA. However, he has not had his best stuff at home, where he is 4-2 in ten starts with a 4.27 ERA and a .259 OBA.
