The Phillies will enter a new series with some momentum after winning their last four games, including a three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners earlier this week. The Phillies are lacking some depth in their starting rotation after Zach Wheeler was placed on the 15-day injury list following surgery to fix a blood clot in his right arm.

I am taking the Philles to cover -1.5 runs. First of all, the Phillies are 6-1 in their last seven home games, winning by at least two runs in all of those victories. Taijuan Walker has also given up a 2.45 ERA in his last five starts and an average of 2.0 runs per game in his last three starts vs. the Nationals.
The Nationals will send Cade Cavalli, who put together seven scoreless innings in his last start against the Phillies (Washington wins 2-0). Cavalli seeks to power the Nats to another win over the Phillies, but I believe Philadelphia will be more prepared for everything Cavalie will throw at them on Friday. Moreover, Washington will have another big night from their offense because if they don’t, they are more likely to get blown out of the water by the Phillies’ high-powered offense that averages 8.6 runs per game in their last five games.
