New York Mets vs Washington Nationals Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Washington Nationals (68-81) will take on the New York Mets (81-68) tonight after winning the final 3 games of their 4-game series with the Marlins. After losing game one 6-3, the Nats took games 2 and 3 by the same 4-1 score and snuck out a 4-3 final in the last game of the series. While the Nats have had a nice stretch of wins, it has been the opposite for the Mets. After winning 6 straight games to start the month, they have gone just 3-4 over their last 7 games, including losing back-to-back games against the Phillies in their latest series. Their wildcard hopes have taken a big hit and without a long winning streak to wrap up the season, these Mets could be watching the postseason from their homes. Tonight, Sean Manaea (11-5, 3.35) will get the start for the Mets and try to help them avoid a losing streak here. Manaea is coming off an 8-strikeout outing against the Blue Jays in his last start. He pitched 6.2 innings where he allowed just 1 run on 3 hits while not factoring into the decision. Jake Irvin (10-12, 4.19) will go for the Nats and will look to repeat the performance he had in his latest outing. Irvin held the Braves to a sole run on 2 hits over 6 innings and picked up his 10th win of the season this past Wednesday.
