The Washington Nationals looks to put a stop on their five-game losing streak on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Nationals will try to avoid being swept for a second consecutive series, but their bats need to come alive in order to end their losing woes. In their recent 10-game swing, Washington has batted .215 with 3.0 runs per game. Their pitching staff hasn’t performed well too, surrendering 4.44 runs in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Cubs will try to make their one last push for a wild card playoff spot, though they don’t have much control of their fate because of their current position in the standings. Chicago (79-75) is six games behind the New York Mets (85-69), who currently occupies the No.3 wild card spot in the National League. With still eight games left on the Cubs’ schedule, it is still mathematically possible for them to snag the last wild card berth, but they will need the Mets to lose their remaining games aside from winning their last eight games to catch the last bus in the MLB postseason.
