The Seattle Kraken continues their six-game homestand on Tuesday, welcoming the Washington Capitals to Climate Pledge Arena.
Seattle is enjoying a nice stretch of home games after a disappointing road trip, during which the team went 1-3-1. At home, the Kraken have regained some momentum, posting a 2-2-0 record over the first four games.
On Tuesday, Lane Lambert's side will try to win a second consecutive outing for the first time since beginning 2026 with a four-game winning streak. The team played a solid two-way game on Sunday against the New Jersey Devils, grabbing a 4-2 victory.
Washington's recent performance has mirrored both Seattle's, with teams battling inconsistency. Alex Ovechkin & Co. will be very disappointed to have won only four contests in January. In their last game, the Capitals couldn't defeat the Edmonton Oilers despite scoring five goals. Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard had a game for the ages with a six-point effort, helping his team to a 6-5 overtime victory.
To turn the season around, Washington must tighten up its defense. The team has allowed 3.38 goals per game since the calendar was flipped. Spencer Carbery's side was among the best defensive units in the league earlier in the season and should have much more potential than it's currently showing.
