Learner Tien of the United States will shoot for his second ATP final against the upset-minded Vitaliy Sachko of Ukraine at the 2025 Metz Open on Friday.

Tien reached his second semifinal this year after outlasting Matteo Berrettini in an electrifying three-set tussle 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday. After sweeping his first two opponents in Moselle, Tien faced some stiff competition from Berrettini in their quarterfinal showdown but once again showed composure beyond his years to gut out a three-set win. Tien held 14 of 15 service games and broke the Italian three times, including a pivotal break that gave him a 3-1 lead in the third set.
Meanwhile, No. 222-ranked Vitaliy Sachko is a semifinalist in this ATP 250 event after edging Clement Tabur 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. A lucky loser in this event, Sachko also pulled off upsets over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Alexander Bublik in the previous round before grinding out a win against another surprising quarterfinal entrant in Tabur. Sachko is 15-10 in indoor play in 2025.
