On Saturday, MLS will resume, and the Vancouver Whitecaps, ranked third in their conference, will host the Philadelphia Union, ranked first in the Eastern Conference, at BC Place in Canada. The Philadelphia Union is one win away from securing a much-deserved Supporters' Shield.
Saturday's match will undoubtedly have a playoff feel; so did Philadelphia's last match against Cincinnati for Eastern Conference supremacy at TQL Stadium. With a goal from Uruguayan Bruno Damiani, the Philadelphia Union won on the road in a tough game full of fouls; there were 30 fouls in total, and Philadelphia received five yellow cards and the expulsion of South African defender Makhanya.
With only three games left in a lengthy regular season, the Philadelphia Union could easily ease off, but midfielder Quinn Sullivan emphasized that they understand the significance of the final games and are focusing on each game individually.
The Whitecaps also won their last outing, albeit with a late penalty from Muller, 3-2 over St. Louis City.
