The Utah Jazz (22-59, 8-32 Away) will close out their 2025-26 NBA season today in Los Angeles against the playoff-bound Lakers (52-29, 27-13 Home). Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST at the crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA, with coverage provided by NBA League Pass.
For the Jazz, the season has been an 81-game struggle that is unlikely to end in their 82nd and final game. It’s not uncommon for playoff teams to fill up their injury reports for the regular season finale, but Utah has eight players listed on the injury report (Isaiah Collier, Kyle Filipowski, Keyonte George, Elijah Harkless, Jaren Jackson Jr., Walker Kessler, Lauri Markkanen, and Jusuf Nurkic).
With the Lakers beating a depleted Suns team on Friday and Houston losing to Minnesota, the Lakers have locked down the No. 4 seed and have nothing to play for in this game. We already knew Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves would be out. So far, LeBron James has not officially been ruled out, but he is listed as questionable. It would be surprising to see him dress out for this game.
We would expect the Lakers to cover a 13.5-14.5 point spread against the Jazz with both lineups healthy. But can we count on them to cover with neither lineup healthy?

The Lakers found a way to win when they needed to most in the last couple of games, but now they don’t need to. Now, the primary concern has to be getting as ready as they can for the Rockets to come to town in the first round. To that end, don’t count on LeBron James playing today, which will leave the Lakers dreadfully short on playmakers. However, the Jazz were a bad team at full strength; at their current depleted state…I shudder to think of how bad this team may be.
However, with the Big Three out, I can’t say with confidence that this Lakers team will cover a 14.5-point spread.
