On Saturday afternoon, the Stars and Stripes will continue their FIFA World Cup prep, this time taking on Belgium in front of a home crowd at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The mood in the home locker room should be a good one following the recent dismantling of Uruguay, while Mauricio Pochettino's men are now without a loss in five games, four of which they've won, so those in attendance should be feeling optimistic.
However, this is easily the USMNT's hardest assignment for some time, and as far as I'm concerned, it's an assignment that they're going to struggle with. In recent times, the Belgians haven't always blown teams away, but they qualified for the World Cup without ever getting out of second gear, while they have more than enough quality to accelerate away from opponents like the Stars and Stripes, so don't be surprised if the hosts find it tough on Saturday.

USA - Belgium: Form Analysis
The USMNT played its last official match in the Gold Cup final, which they lost to Mexico. However, it has made the most of its friendly matches and has left a very positive impression after defeating highly competitive teams from CONMEBOL and the AFC (Australia is now part of that confederation), and currently boasts a strong record.
The USMNT have lost only one of their last six friendly matches and has secured four victories.
Their opponent had a standout World Cup qualifying campaign, not only finishing first but also without losing a single match and earning 18 out of a possible 24 points; this friendly will serve as a good test to gauge what they’ll be up against in the World Cup.

USA & Belgium Squad Analysis
In addition to Tyler Adams and Seghino Dest, Alejandro Zendejas was not called up by Mauricio.
The US boasts a wealth of talent, including goalkeeper Matt Turner, defender Chris Richards, midfielders Giovanni Reyna and Weston McKennie, and forwards Pulisic, Ricardo Pepi, and Folarin Balogun, who is currently in top form at Monaco.
Balogun have scored 15 goals in all competitions for the US so far this season: he hopes to carry that scoring form into the World Cup.
Belgium arrives without Lukaku, Trossard, Courtois, and Hans Vanaken
Despite the significant absences in the Belgian squad, Rudi García’s team still has several key players available: among them are Maxim de Cuyper and Timothy Castagne in defense, Tielemans, Onana, Kevin De Bruyne, and veteran Axel Witsel in midfield, and up front, the standout is the world’s best dribbler:

Our USA vs Belgium Prediction
Listen, the Belgian haven't really beaten any notable teams in the last year or so, but they really have played without overexerting themselves, so the fact that they're unbeaten in nine is impressive. The visitors arrive with several top-quality offensive players in hot form, which doesn't bode well for a home team that struggles to keep clean sheets.
Offensively, there's been lots to like about the way in which the Stars and Stripes have operated in recent times, but their clear lack of defensive quality is a problem here. Quite simply, if this becomes about who can score more goals, then the Belgians shouldn't have a problem coming out on top, and at odds of +140, that's exactly what I'm betting on them to do.
Our USA vs Belgium Pick: Belgium to Win.
USA vs Belgium - Other Interesting Picks
Both teams to score
The US, led by Argentine coach Pochettino, has taken advantage of opportunities in front of excellent teams, combining experience with youth. They’re up against another great team in this matchup, but one that tends to concede goals in the first half.
Belgium, meanwhile, is missing four key players from its squad. However, they still have more than enough quality to handle this match and know that these absences are merely precautionary. Given both teams’ defensive struggles, this will be a match where there will be at least one goal scored at some point.
