On Wednesday evening, in the Belgian city of Brussels, it's now or never for Union SG, who are looking to reach the knockouts of the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever. To do that, they'll need to beat an Atalanta team that currently sits seven points ahead of them in the league-phase standings. Unfortunately, the hosts don't exactly arrive at this junction in flying form, winning none of their last two, both of which they've failed to score in. Not what the doctor ordered.
The Italian visitors have already ensured that they'll be going beyond the League Phase, but will they be heading into the playoffs or going directly into the Round of 16? Well, Raffaele Palladino's men could make the top eight with just a tie in Brussels, though that seems unlikely given that there are several other teams on 13 points, at least few of which should win on Wednesday. Realistically, to bypass the playoffs, the visitors need to win, and they warmed up nicely for this task by beating Parma 4-0 at the weekend.
