On Thursday, the three-time ATP Tour winner, who previously reached the semi-finals of this tournament, will be back in action. This time he faces fellow Frenchman Ugo Blanchet, who is ranked considerably lower than Fils. In other words, this looks like a nice opportunity for the world number 42 to continue his progression.
Blanchet has had three matches in Montpellier already, so he'll certainly be familiar with the conditions, which is a plus for the man who is currently ranked at 174 in the world. However, he's yet to face a top-100 player, so it's easy to assume that he'll come up short on Thursday, which is exactly what he did when these two last met.
