Latvia takes on Turkey on Wednesday, August 27, at the Riga Arena in Riga, Latvia.
It's a home game for Latvia, giving them an immediate advantage for their first match. Latvia only won two of their five preparation games this summer, but this is still a very formidable squad.
Veteran NBA star Kristaps Porzingis is spearheading the Latvian squad. Other players with NBA experience for them would be Davis Bertans, Dairis Bertans, and Arturs Kurucs. But don't forget their rising young gun Arturs Zagars.
During his last stint with the Latvian national team in 2023, Zagars averaged 10.0 points and 4.0 assists. He was very efficient from the field, as he shot an overall clip of 58.3%, while shooting 38.5% from the three-point line.
But of course, Turkey is no pushover. They're led by Alperen Sengun, who is coming off his first All-Star appearance in the NBA. Adem Bona, Furkan Korkmaz, Shane Larkin, Cedi Osman, and Omer Yurtseven are other Turkish players with NBA experience.
Turkey won three of their five preparation games. The great thing about this is they've actually won their last three games as a team. That's an excellent momentum builder heading into EuroBasket.

Our Turkiye vs Latvia Prediction
Kristaps Porzingis and the Latvian national team have the advantage of playing their first match at their home arena. However, they'll be going up against a Turkish team that's led by young NBA All-Star Alperen Sengun.
Does Latvia have a bruising big who can at least contain Sengun? We'll see, but Turkey might have enough firepower to keep this game close and possibly win in the end. Our prediction for the Latvia vs Turkey is: Turkey (+2.5) cover the spread.Grab an extra $300 for your Turkiye vs Latvia wager!
