Estonia takes on Turkey on Monday, September 1, at the Arena Riga in Latvia.
Turkey seems to be one of the early favorites for this year's EuroBasket, judging from their strong performances in the group stage. After soundly defeating Latvia and Czech Republic, Turkey proceeded to defeat Portugal, 95-54. Their defense was in full display, not allowing the Portuguese to reach 18 points in each quarter.
Alperen Sengun continues to show his All-Star form, producing 20 points on an excellent 69.2% shooting. The Houston Rockets star also added seven rebounds and five assists to his tally. Through three games, Sengun is averaging an all-around stat line of 19.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists.
Three more Turkish players scored in double digits in the win against Portugal. Furkan Korkmaz and Omer Yurtseven contributed 14 points apiece, while Onuralp Bitim added 13 markers.
Meanwhile, Estonia finally tallied a win after defeating Czech Republic, 89-75. Their 31-point outburst in the second quarter helped them establish enough cushion the entire game.
Five Estonian players scored in double digits, including 16 from Kristian Kullamae and 15 from Henri Drell. Estonia now improves their record to one win and two losses.
